Tip of the day

Bottled or fresh lemon juice is really effective for cleaning. Bleach your wooden chopping board by rubbing with lemon juice, leave overnight, then rinse. Remove limescale from taps by rubbing with lemon juice, then rinse after a few minutes (not suitable for plated taps). Clean kitchen surfaces by rubbing with lemon juice then rinse.

Ready to buy a compost bin?

Zero Waste Scotland’s subsidised compost bin offer ended in January 2011, so if you are looking for a bin a good place to start may be your local garden centre. Alternatively here are some good websites to check out::
