New air source heat pump has ‘transformed’ householder’s life

John received a new air source heat pump system through an Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Schemes (EES:ABS) project in the Scottish Borders.

Before John’s new system was installed, his home was very cold. He used to dread getting up or going to bed, particularly when it was cold outside, as health and mobility issues made tasks like getting changed take more time.

He heard about the EES:ABS project by a postcard which came through his door, and also online. He wanted to upgrade his home to make it warmer, and to reduce his expensive bills.

The installation of his new air source heat pump system was much easier and quicker than John expected. Furthermore, the installers were very good, hard working and caring.

They made sure they minimised any upheaval for John as much as possible; the installation took place on one of the coldest days of the year, so they worked hard to complete the installation in just one day. They even purchased three small fan heaters to keep him warm whilst the work took place.

The installation of the new air source heat pump system has transformed John’s life. He now has hot water, a consistent temperature throughout the house, and significantly cheaper electric bills – they have reduced by about £30 a month. He feels much more positive and recommends that anyone thinking of installing an air source heat pump does so as soon as possible.

John says: “I couldn’t praise the installers highly enough. All in all, [it was] a good service, I’d recommend to anyone, two days of upheaval for a super system!”
