Grants and Financial Support

Help is out there if you’re struggling with the rising cost of energy.

Whether you’re looking for discounts on your energy bills or a government scheme for insulation, we can point you in the right direction.

There are three types of grant funding to help you reduce your energy costs. See the sections below to find out more.

Help paying your energy bills

There are several grants and schemes which can help you cover your energy bills.

Cost of Living Payments

Three different Cost of Living Payments are available. Find out more here.

Support for pensioners

Pensioners can get extra support through the Warm Home Discount and the Winter Fuel Payment. Pensioners who qualify will get money off their heating bills.

Other energy grants and support

There are a number of less well-known schemes which can help you pay your energy bills. These are generally for people who meet certain criteria. For a full list, visit the Financial support section of our website.

Home efficiency grants

A lot of buildings in Scotland are bad at keeping the heat in. Adding insulation to our homes stops the heat leaking out so quickly. This means we don’t have to leave the heating on for as long, which saves us money on our energy bills.

You can receive energy improvement grants and financial support to help you improve the energy efficiency of your home. Check our Home Efficiency Grants page for more information.

Grants for generating your own energy

With the cost of energy so high, it’s no surprise that people are interested in generating their own power. Technologies like solar panels and heat pumps let us get energy from free, renewable sources. This means we don’t need to buy as much gas or electricity from the grid.

You can get grants and financial support to help make renewable technology more affordable. For more information, visit our Grants For Renewables section.
