  • There are several other Tools Shed points in the Lothians as part of the initiative which can be found at New Hopetoun Gardens, Dunbar Garden Centre, Blackburn,Broxburn, Linlithgow, Livingston, Oakbank and Whitburn. Check the website below for details on locations and the types of tools accepted.

  • Donations of old or unwanted basic hand tools, such as saws and hammers, can be made to the Tools for Self Reliance group. This volunteer organisation refurbishes basic hand tools and supplies them to working people in developing countries. Professional quality power tools in good condition are also accepted. Please phone for specific requirements prior to donation:

  • Basic garden tools can be donated to Edinburgh in Bloom, who lend them to community groups and schools. They are currently setting up a tools library for the Friends of Parks Groups in the city so donations would be gratefully received. For details contact the Edinburgh in Bloom coordinator.

  • Work is about to start on a new Fresh Start allotment, but they need tools.They need: digging spades and forks; shovels and rakes; shears; hand tools (forks/trowels/divers); wheelbarrows; lawn mower; and a water hose and are also keen for donations of old boots and wellies of different sizes, gardening gloves and large umbrellas!If you think you can help with these items please see their contact  details below.

Electrical and battery operated tools can be put into the electrical container at your local Community Recycling Centre. See COMMUNITY RECYCLING CENTRES.
