Efficient energy use is an important part of the campaign, which aims to help households save money by lowering the flow temperature on their condensing combi boilers to 60°C, is backed by research that suggests homes could save around £112 on their annual gas bill by following this easy-to-do advice.
The work and research is backed by Which?, Energy UK and energy groups EDF, Octopus and E.ON.
Combi boilers work most efficiently when the water they heat goes to the radiators at 60°C or below. This is called the flow temperature. Most boilers in the UK are set at flow temperatures often around 70-80°C.

Heating our homes with fossil fuels typically accounts for 15% of the UK’s carbon emissions.
A lower flow temperature means your combi boiler will be in condensing mode, which means it will recover heat that would otherwise be lost so that it runs more efficiently.
The research says that if 10 million households turned down the flow temperature on their combi boilers to 60°c or below this could wipe £1billion off UK energy bills and save 1.7 million tonnes of carbon emissions – the equivalent of nearly 6 million transatlantic flights.
