New report from Consumer Focus Scotland evaluating energy training for frontline energy advisors to support fuel switching for vulnerable people. Energy prices for household consumers have risen consistently in recent years, and the numbers of households in Scotland in fuel poverty has increased as a result.

Energy Best Deal Scotland (EBDS) was a training programme which aimed to build the capacity of advisers working in frontline agencies in relation to energy advice in general, and to tariff advice in particular. The training was targeted at money advisers, Citizens Advice Bureau advisers, and at others working with vulnerable and disadvantaged consumers on a daily basis. It aimed to look at ways to address the barriers to switching while also providing a practical opportunity to assist vulnerable, fuel poor people to reduce their costs. We carried out the EBDS evaluation and wrote the report 'Helping vulnerable people in Scotland to switch and save on fuel bills 'an evaluation of energy training for front line advisers'.
