The heat pump training van facility recently visited the Loch Broom and Ullapool Community Trust in Ullapool.
The session was arranged as part of the Highland Energy Community Partnership (HECP) initiative in the area and was put together by the local HECP energy officer, Matthew Holmes. It ran from 15th – 21st June and was very successful. Five candidates completed the training using the van, which is provided by the Energy Saving Trust (EST).
Feedback forms were sent out to gather the candidates’ views on the training and one participant said, ‘It’s a great facility and the course is fun and very informative.’
Jason Leon who completed the training said, “The training van came to Ullapool and enabled On Site Generation and our installation partners to access heat pump training without having to travel daily, or stay away from home, making it much more affordable. The grant funding support covered all the courses we needed and is a huge help. The training was well delivered and the van itself is an excellent facility.
We find that the community energy officers engaging with householders makes a big difference to them having the confidence to move forward with improvements. Energy Officers are able to advise on an individual, practical basis regarding taking the right steps to improve energy efficiency, install heat pumps and add solar PV and battery storage where appropriate. The Officers are helping put people in touch with installers that are in the area and able to do the work and support with future maintenance.”
