Changeworks and learning and development social enterprise, the Social Enterprise Academy, are forming a brand new partnership that will see the two groups working together to support young people to fulfil their potential in the environmental sector.
The two organisations will combine Changeworks’ over 30 years’ experience in delivering low carbon living with the Social Enterprise Academy’s 14-year track record in delivering the Social Enterprise in Education programme. The result will be truly innovative opportunities for young people to increase their understanding of the roles all organisations can play in cutting carbon, and the range of roles and opportunities available to them in the environmental sector.
Teachers involved in the Social Enterprise in Education programme will also be involved in a workshop with Changeworks, to help them motivate the next generation of environmental change makers. Changeworks has a strong track record of working with young people to protect our planet, from internships, work experience and apprenticeships to our work with schools and community projects.
Liz Partington, Deputy Chief Executive of Changeworks, said: “We’re delighted to partner with the Social Enterprise Academy to expand our work with young people. The Academy’s work in supporting talent and social enterprise to flourish aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver low carbon living.
“Young people are key to tackling the climate emergency, both in their own actions and in the behaviours they can influence as they go out into the world. We’re excited to offer these opportunities and make our employees available to give something to the next generation.”
James Johnstone, Education Coordinator at the Social Enterprise Academy, said: “This partnership with Changeworks is a great new way for the young people we work with to engage with one of the most important sectors in Scotland – right now, and into the future.
“We’re excited to give young people and teachers access to Changeworks’ industry-leading expertise in the field of cutting carbon through our workshop programme, supporting young people to set up environmentally friendly social enterprises, and about the benefits this programme offers to Changeworks and its employees.”
The programme will begin next month, with workshops running until March 2022.
