Ofgem's announcement that the average household's energy bill will rise by £693 a year has been met with anger, frustration and worry by millions of people.

The record 54% increase has sent shockwaves through homes in Scotland, and now we're all waiting to hear from the Scottish Government to find out what help might be available ahead of the price rise coming into effect in April.

Help is already at hand at Changeworks, where we've been tackling cold homes and fuel poverty for a number of years across Scotland. Help with bills

Our Affordable Warmth Services team can help you with any issue related to your energy bills, whether it's a buildup of debt, high estimated bills, making sure you're on as best possible deal that's available, and great advice on your energy usage. Advice on reducing energy use and saving money on your bills

Our team at Home Energy Scotland offer completely free and impartial advice on all manner of energy topics. Their expert advisors can talk you through simple ways you can reduce your energy use and save money on your bills – what might seem like small changes can add up to a big difference. They can also find out if you're eligible for any grants or funding for energy efficiency home improvements.

Home Energy Scotland has helped over 24,000 homeowners and private tenants to benefit from the Scottish Government funded Warmer Homes Scotland programme. Eight out of ten of these homeowners have received free energy efficiency improvements, and have also saved on average around £300 on their energy bills per year.

Benefit help

Have you recently checked to see if you are eligible for any benefits? An easy way to check this is by using an independent calculator at www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators. It's free to use and anonymous, and will tell you if you're entitled to some extra help and how you can claim if you are. Benefits can be a gateway to potentially becoming eligible for further funding and support.
