How EcoCosi works
From retrofit planning, through to helping you get the most out of your newly improved home, EcoCosi has got you covered.
EcoCosi offers an end-to-end service which takes a whole-house, fabric-first approach to your retrofit. This means we look at how to improve or upgrade insulation and ventilation, as well as addressing repairs.
Each stage has a number of options to choose from to best suit your budget and needs. These are all listed in detail below.
If you’re at the start of your retrofit journey, we recommend looking at what’s on offer in Stage One to get you off on the right foot. However, if you’re already aware of what your home requires to become more energy efficient, what we offer in Stages Two and Three might be more appropriate.
We approach your retrofit project as a three-stage process:
- Discovering your home’s energy efficiency potential
- Connecting you with trusted, expert installers
- Ensuring all work carried out on your home is to the highest of industry standards

Stage 1: Discover how to transform your home

This is where your home’s energy efficiency journey begins. It’s where you’ll discover what energy efficiency measures are possible for your home and the impact they’ll have on your energy bills.
At this point it is about creating a retrofit that’s tailored to your home. Rather than focussing on out-of-the-box solutions, we believe your retrofit should be as bespoke as possible to ensure your home’s energy efficiency requirements are met.
We have several options available to you at this stage to suit your budget, from a one-hour telephone consultation with one of our expert coordinators to an in-depth, in-person home assessment and report.
Cost: £0-£1,450

What does this service include?
myEcoCosi is a free report that provides advice on possible energy efficiency measures for your home, including rough cost estimates and savings. myEcoCosi makes assumptions based on publicly available information on your home or similar properties in the area.
The tool is limited compared to other phase one services but is a great place to discover what is possible. Access myEcoCosi here.
Who is this service for?
Householders who are intereseted in making their home more energy efficient and want to know what measures might be suitable for their home.
Cost: £180 incl. VAT
What does this service include?
A one-hour remote consultation call with a Retrofit Coordinator, followed by a written summary of the advice provided. Your Coordinator will discuss each energy efficiency measure suitable for your home and what to look out for when considering upgrades. They will also discuss points such as ventilation, damp and combining measures, as well as provide an assessment of your home’s geographical location.
Who is this service for?
All homeowners who want impartial, expert advice can benefit from this. It’s particularly useful for homeowners outside the Central Belt where EcoCosi may not be able to offer an in-home survey, or homeowners with limited budget.
Please note that due to the consultation being remote, homeowners may be required to undertake necessary investigations or visited by an installer at a later date.
Cost: £600 incl. VAT
What does this service include?
All points discussed in the Consultation Call, plus an in-person survey with a Retrofit Coordinator and Retrofit Assessor who will carry out a series of investgations in your home to inform recommendations for energy efficiency improvements. These will inform a detailed report which includes findings from the investigations, plus recommended measures with detailed descriptions and risk factors.
Once you have the Home Transformation Report, you can use this information to gain a more accurate myEcoCosi report based on the Report’s findings to provide a rough estimate of costs and savings.
Who is this service for?
The report is the standard option when it comes to assessing homes for energy efficiency upgrades, and is the minimum level of assessment recommended for traditional buildings constructed before 1919.
Cost: £1,450 incl. VAT
What does this service include?
Everything included in the Home Transformation Report, plus a more detailed survey where our Retrofit Coordinator and Retrofit Assessor collect data on your home. Using architectural software, they will create an energy efficiency model calibrated with real-life fuel usage data (if available). The resulting report includes detailed charts and graphs based on ‘scenario building’, where we take the current energy performance of your home as a baseline. At this point we can model energy efficiency improvements to see what their impact will be in your home.
This Assessment is most detailed of our phase one options, and allows for more accurate estimates of costs and savings.
Who is this service for?
Homeowners with complex buildings who are not able to install all measures at once and need more information to decide between different improvements. The Assessment will also appeal to homeowners who really want to understand how their property works and those who appreciate statistics and visualisation of data.
Stage 2: Connect with our trusted installers

Once you have your retrofit plan in place and have decided what work you’d like to progress with, you’ll need the right people to carry out the work on your home. Quality Assurance visits at key stages of the installation process from Changeworks’ in-house expert assessors. What do our clients say?
Each home our retrofit experts work on is unique and presents its own challenges, meaning every project our team undertakes requires a different approach.
We’ve collated stories from some of our clients to learn more about their project, its plan and how the EcoCosi team has helped them in their retrofit journey.
