We’re pleased to present the first end of year report for the Highland Energy Community Partnership.
As we reflect on the partnership’s first year, we recognise that this period was about doing the groundwork and building the strong foundations from which real and lasting change can grow.
This report sets out the achievements and positive outcomes from these early stages, and tells the story of the collaborative work already underway across our communities. It gives an overview of how the partnership has developed, alongside early outcomes that demonstrate what we can achieve when we work together.
Highland Energy Community Partnership: End of year report 2025/26
Our next publication will focus on the experiences of installers working in remote and rural Highland communities, sharing what tradespeople and companies have told us about the realities of the supply chain in the region. As a partnership, we will continue to work closely with the supply chain and our communities to coordinate activity and break down the barriers that stand in the way of retrofitting rural homes.
Now into year two, the team is further engaging with householders, suppliers and our non-funded partners, including Home Energy Scotland, the University of the Highlands and Islands and The Highland Council. We are looking forward to retrofit installations getting underway as we move into years three through to five.
What is the Highland Energy Community Partnership?
The Highland Energy Community Partnership aims to overcome barriers to home decarbonisation and fuel poverty alleviation in remote areas of the Scottish Highlands. Over the coming years, the project aims to:
- Reducing carbon emissions from homes in the project locations
- Making a real difference to people’s quality of life
- Stimulating a more robust retrofit supply chain in the area.
