The Highlands and Islands are facing a perfect storm of overlapping challenges: fuel poverty, aging housing stock, climate impacts and constrained supply chains. These challenges cannot be solved separately. They require collaboration, coordination and funding.
This event will launch the update of our 2023 report ‘A Perfect Storm: Fuel Poverty in Rural Scotland’, which examines how fuel poverty in rural Scotland has changed, which drivers of fuel poverty remain most acute, and what action is needed from the UK and Scottish Governments, local authorities, housing providers and delivery partners.
This event will discuss the report and bring together key stakeholders and partners in the region to:
- Reflect on the scale of fuel poverty and retrofit challenges in the region
- Explore gaps in the advice, retrofit and funding ecosystem
- Identify practical opportunities for collaboration, partnerships and advocacy
- Connect local expertise and knowledge with national insight, policy and delivery
