Changeworks can support applications for the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund

Applications are now open for the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund (SHNZHF). This Scottish Government initiative helps fund the retrofit of existing homes. If your Housing Association has an idea for a project, Changeworks can support you in making an application.

What projects can get SHZNHF funding?

You can apply for funding for either:

  • Clean Heating Systems for Social Housing retrofit across Scotland – where successful applicants receive up to 60% of costs for the zero direct emissions heating elements of the project
  • Fabric First energy efficiency only projects –  which covers up to 50% of project costs for successful applicants.

So if you have an idea for a project which upgrades your housing stock’s energy efficiency or installs clean heating, you can apply for funding. The application deadline is Monday 12 May.

How can Changeworks help?

Changeworks has a track record of supporting organisations to successfully apply for the SHNZHF. Our expert team can help in a variety of ways, from sense-checking an idea to supporting you in making an application.

SHNZHF projects Changeworks has helped with

Below are some of the recent SHNZHF funded projects we have undertaken with housing associations and local authorities across Scotland.

Cairn Housing Association

In Blairgowrie we used £145,000 of the fund to install modern high heat retention storage heaters and solar PV at 35 households. In Thurso we leveraged £270,000 of funding to install modern high heat retention storage heaters, solar PV with battery storage and SolShare technology to 30 households.

Kingdom Housing Association

In Perth we used £550,000 of the fund for internal wall insulation, external wall insulation and double-glazing upgrades to 108 homes. In Dunfermline, we used £88,000 of the fund to significantly upgrade six terraced homes. Measures included air source heat pumps, solar PV with battery storage, triple glazing and loft insulation.

Midlothian Council

Using £490,000 of the fund, we upgraded 68 properties with “fabric first” measures, including external and internal wall insulation.
