The Change Works in Peebles hub is now open for business on the High Street in Peebles. An expert energy advisor from Home Energy Scotland, who are funded by the Scottish Government, will be based in the hub until the end of March offering anyone who drops in a free and impartial energy efficiency advice session.
Donna Marshall, Project Manager of Change Works in Peebles, says “We’re delighted to be open and able to welcome people into the hub. Having a dedicated Home Energy Scotland advisor on site for the next few weeks is a brilliant opportunity for people to receive tailored expert advice on saving energy and staying warm at home. The advisor will also provide information on any schemes and funding available to help install energy efficiency improvements such as a new boiler or insulation.”
Maddy Grant (pictured), the Home Energy Scotland Advisor based in the hub, commented, “I’m looking forward to helping people save money on heating and electricity bills, keeping their homes warm and saving energy. I regularly speak to customers and many improvements can be made quickly and simply – people really appreciate the tailored and impartial support.”
Change Works in Peebles is also supporting a Home Energy Scotland event on 15 March at the Peebles Burgh Hall. Attendees will get advice on keeping warm at home by learning about different types of insulation, draught-proofing and glazing replacement; as well as how to reduce energy usage and lower their bills. Expert speakers from the Scottish Borders Council, Historic Environment Scotland, Home Energy Scotland and Change Works in Peebles will give short talks, and people will have the opportunity to meet energy advisors and specialist installers. Events will also be held in Selkirk (27 March) and Melrose (19 April). Book a free place online or call free on 0808 808 2282. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm.
