  • Comprehensive service
  • Experts in energy efficiency
  • Work with organisations across Scotland

Our team designs and delivers independent impact evaluation services for projects within the retrofit, sustainable energy and fuel poverty sectors.

We help organisations to develop projects that have clear impact pathways and to collect evidence of this by creating bespoke monitoring plans.

At the end of your project, our evaluation service will ensure you have the evidence you need to showcase your work and its impact.

Why evaluate your work?

Evaluating your energy efficiency project will help you understand how successful your project was in achieving its goals and enable you to showcase its impact after the work has been completed.

By evidencing the impact the project has had, including the expected and the unexpected, you can capture the learnings that will strengthen future projects.

Comprehensive data collection

We are experts in assessing the effectiveness of energy efficiency and renewable technology measures.

Our comprehensive social and technical data collection and monitoring and evaluation specialists deliver meaningful insights that will provide you with a rounded picture of your project’s performance.

Innovative solutions

Our Impact Evaluation team are also on hand to help you develop a theory of change, evaluation framework and monitoring plan for new projects and use the findings to identify innovative solutions for future projects to help tackle the climate emergency.

What is a theory of change?

‘Theory of change’ sets out how a project is going to make change happen and helps identify the data that will need to be collected to evidence the project’s impacts.

The process of creating the theory of change creates a strong shared understanding across delivery teams, partners and stakeholders about what you are doing and why. It also helps to manage risk and identify those pivotal areas where you can maximise impact.

Tailored approach

We know that one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why our monitoring and evaluation service is made up of work packages that you select to suit the needs of your projects and budget:

  • Monitoring equipment rental
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Household engagement
  • Energy consumption data collection
  • Environmental data collection

We can also work with you to design a suitable monitoring and evaluation framework that your team can deliver themselves.

Working in the community

Funders often recommend groups develop a theory of change as it shows a commitment to understanding exactly how a project will bring about its intended impacts.

By supporting community groups in this process we can help to maximise the success of place-based climate and energy projects, including the decarbonisation of housing stock.

Supporting Hjaltland’s retrofit project

Our Impact Evaluation team recently helped Hjaltland Housing Assiciation to assess the outcomes of their deep retrofit pilot project

Paul Leask, Head of Investment and Asset Management at Hjaltland, commented: “This report will assist us in accessing further funding for fabric improvements and will also be invaluable in setting our energy improvement strategy going forward.”
