FAQs – Bathroom upgrade
If you’ve been offered the opportunity to have your bathroom upgraded, these FAQs should answer any questions you may have.
1. Survey visit
A surveyor will measure your bathroom and confirm the layout. They’ll check water pressure, drainage, and ventilation.
2. Removal
Old sanitaryware, tiles, and flooring will be taken out.
3. Preparation
Plumbing and electrics will be moved to fit the new layout. Walls will be repaired or boarded if needed.
4. Installation
New suite, shower, screens, and towel rails will be fitted.
Wet wall panels will be installed.
Plumbing will be tested for leaks.
Lighting, sockets, extractor fan, mirrors, and accessories will be added.
5. Handover
The installer will show you how to use the shower, fan, and heating controls.
Yes:
Remove toiletries, towels, and clear bathroom cabinets.
During the day, water and toilet access may be limited. At the end of each day, you will have running water and a working toilet.
If you have special bathing needs during the work, please tell Sureserve.
Yes:
Expect noise and dust from cutting, drilling, and plastering.
Several tradespeople (electricians, plumbers, tilers, plasterers) will be working, so there will be some coming and going.
About 6–7 days to complete the bathroom and WC refit.
The floor will be levelled and ready for you to install your chosen finish. Moray Council will provide some funding to help with this.
Yes, walls and ceilings will be decorated as part of the work.
The Changeworks Quality Assurance team will inspect all properties to make sure the work meets the approved standard.
