Disposable cups

Too Good To Waste

What would you like to reduce, reuse, repair or recycle?

Disposable cups

Reusable Coffee Cups

Every year 2.5 billion disposable coffee cups are sent to landfill in the UK. They are used for a matter of minutes yet can take up to 50 years to decompose in landfill!

Although they are technically recyclable, it is currently very difficult to do so due to the seal of the plastic lining on the inside of the cup and the lack of recycling facilities for this process. This means that currently only 1 in 400 cups are being recycled.

Reusable cups are an easy, far less wasteful alternative, and many local coffee stores in Edinburgh offer a small discount to those who bring one.

You can buy reusable cups in most supermarkets, many local shops and online.
