Scots throw away 630,000 tonnes of food waste each year, worth £470 per household. Kitchen Canny is both a stand-alone resource and a community workshop programme, designed to help people to reduce their food waste. At its heart is a step-by-step toolkit which provides practical ideas to improve meal planning, food shopping, portioning, food storage and use of leftovers.

We are currently running five projects which offer both our food waste prevention advice and energy efficiency support for householders in or at risk of fuel poverty in Edinburgh and the Borders. We are delivering these projects with funding from the People and Communities Fund, Scottish Legal Aid Board, People’s Postcode Trust and Bank of Scotland Foundation
