Householders in Edinburgh, the Mid Lothian, West Lothian and Fife are set to receive a surprise with their council tax bill in the coming week. They’ll receive a leaflet with tips to save money on energy bills, as well as a chance to take part in a prize draw for shopping vouchers.

How much money could you save by turning your thermostat down by 1°C, or not leaving your electrical appliances on standby? How much electricity can you save by washing your clothes at 30°C?

They will find the answers to these questions and more contained in the Home Energy Scotland prize draw leaflet. The leaflet is designed to help them save money on their energy bills, as well as offering them a chance to win £100 or £50 in gift vouchers.

The prize draw, ‘Your chance to win – and reduce your energy bills’ is organised by Home Energy Scotland* and is being distributed by councils in the South East of Scotland, through the annual council tax billing statement.

“The prize draw shows how easy it is for people to make simple changes to save energy, reduce their fuel bills and cut their carbon emissions. It’s a fun way to help people to remember.” Jill Fenton, Home Energy Scotland Centre Manager, South East.

Watch out for the leaflet in Council mailings in City of Edinburgh Council, Fife Council, Mid Lothian Council and West Lothian Council. Or call Home Energy Scotland free for a copy on 0808 808 2282.
