The ‘Reuse Showhome’ is an opportunity for Leith and Edinburgh residents and visitors to view a new build showhome hosted at Quay Community Improvements. The showhome has been fitted out entirely with reused and repaired furniture, furnishings and homeware with the help of Quay Community Improvements, Edinburgh Remakery, Edinburgh Tool Library, Edinburgh Furniture Initiative, Bethany Christian Trust, Up-It DIY project at Inspiring Leith, Upcycled World and Fresh Start.
The showhome demonstrates that beautiful home interiors can be achieved on a small budget and in small spaces with a minimal environmental impact by buying or making reused and upcycled items. The exhibition will share the stories of the lives of these reused and repaired items, and some of the furnishings will also be available to purchase. There will also be upcycling and DIY workshops and demonstrations to inspire you to reuse and repair items at home. The unique chair pictured in the promotional image was upcycled from an old table at the Edinburgh Remakery. Look out for this chair or other similarly unique items at the showhome!
The Reuse Showhome is part of the Architecture Fringe 2018 which is showcasing new work, exhibitions and installations throughout Scotland.
