Homes in the private rented sector are some of the least energy efficient in Scotland. To tackle this, the Scottish Government has announced that minimum energy efficiency standards will be introduced for privately rented housing from April 2020.
Whether you're looking for a full assessment of your rental properties, need someone to chat through your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) or would like advice on funding and incentives, drop into the Change Works in Peebles hub where an energy advisor from Home Energy Scotland can:
- Give you advice on financial support, eligibility, how to apply and what schemes can be combined
- Arrange for a specialist to visit your property to assess what can be done and take you through the options. An assessment of which renewables systems may be suitable can also be undertaken at the same time if you are interested in technologies such as solar PV, heat pumps, and wind turbines.
Change Works in Peebles can further support landlords in the Tweeddale area with finding a contractor to install energy efficiency measures. It has developed a list of contractors who can install measures such as insulation to your property, helping reduce your tenant's energy bills, save money and make their home more comfortable. If you use this list of contractors, you will benefit from a free quality assurance inspection from Changeworks once the measure has been installed.
Change Works in Peebles also regularly organise events and workshops which may be of interest to you or your tenants. More details can be found on their Facebook page. For more information, pop into the Change Works in Peebles hub, call 01721 722810 or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
