CARBON FOOTPRINT

Carbon Footing: Our Services Can Help You We have calculated our carbon footprint for the last year. This insight is helping us to reduce our environmental impact and save money for the business. As an environmental organisation it is vital for Changeworks to ‘walk the talk’ and be seen to set a great example. We need an honest assessment of our impacts and have a plan on how to reduce them. As for all businesses, particularly in this time of austerity, we need to make sure that our money and that of our clients, partners and funders, is well spent. |
You can download our report, but these are our key findings:
- Our organisation expended 509 tonnes of CO2e in 2010-11.
- This is the equivalent of 2.69 tonnes CO2e per full time equivalent member of staf
- Through our work, for every tonne of CO2e that we expended, we helped others save 1,135 tonnes
So what are we doing to reduce our impact? We are focusing on three things:
- We use a lot of diesel, so we are using bio-diesel which has less impact
- We use most electricity at our Newhaven Road office, so we are monitoring different circuits there so we can better understand how and where our electricity is used
- Personal transport for both business and commuting has a big impact on our footprint so we are providing staff with fuel efficient driving lessons as well as encouraging staff to cycle, walk or use public transport wherever possible.
We also make sure that all our staff and volunteers at Changeworks understand that we have a footprint, that it’s monitored and how they can contribute to our continuous efforts to reduce it.
