Most of the time we use the hot water tap when we wash our hands, but it only gets a bit warm by the time we finish – why not use the cold water tap and save the energy of heating up the water? Especially as it is more the soap than the temperature of the water that kills the germs …

  • Support in promoting and running information events in your community.
  • Free training to help you use our services, and achieve your community’s carbon goals.

Local Authorities and Housing Associations

When it comes to housing, energy efficiency and fuel poverty are quickly rising up the local authority agenda. We’re here to offer solutions and support in moving towards better quality housing and tenancy arrangements in Scotland. Here’s what we can offer:

    • We organise and host a regular Social Housing Energy Forum to keep housing associations and local authorities up to date with current energy efficiency and renewables opportunities, showcasing real life examples.
    • FREE training to frontline housing staff on our services for tenants affected by or at risk of fuel poverty.
    • We’ll support you to access funding to make your housing stock more energy efficient, easier to heat and more affordable to live in. Tenants with lower energy costs are happier, healthier and often better equipped to manage their other outgoings, such as rent.
    • We can also advise your organisation on the best way to cash in on renewable technologies like solar electricity, and how this can impact on your tenants and your income in general.

Besides general improvements to housing stock we want to hear from teams or organisations who work to tackle climate change, fuel poverty or other issues linked to energy.

Support Networks and Health Professionals

Do your clients or patients struggle to heat their homes or pay their fuel bills? Are you aware of the impact this might be having on their health? If you are in touch with vulnerable householders who could use some support with energy issues, our Community Liaison Officer can help.

    • We deliver FREE training on the Scottish Government’s Energy Assistance Package, to ensure you and your colleagues are up to speed on what’s available to help those in fuel poverty.
    • We can provide your organisation with leaflets, posters and other resources to help your patients or service users access information easily. We’ll also supply you with articles for your newsletter or website.
    • Advice sessions for service users – drop-in or bespoke events and talks that will encourage householders to take action themselves
    • For health professionals, our comprehensive ‘Fuel Poverty & Health’ workshop is designed to make the connection between common health problems and the effects of living in a cold home or struggling with debt. There is concrete research evidence to show the links, and the workshop gives you the facts – and the tools to help households break the cycle.
    • Simple, secure referrals process - our priority is making it easy for you to get help for your service users through a simple referral process.
