Project H(EAT) Consultations - Fuel bills and food spending

4 consultations between 1 July - 25 August

Leith and Portobello - venues TBC

Many older people are concerned about their fuel bills, sometimes to the extent that they feel compelled to cut down on spending on food.

A new project to investigate these issues is being promoted through a multi agency partnership including Pilmeny Development Project, Care and Repair Edinburgh and Changeworks (funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund).

During summer there will be a consultation in the North East Edinburgh area, investigating the prevalence of fuel poverty and the likely uptake of energy efficiency measures among older people (including “hard to reach”, housebound, BME, people with physical disabilities and learning difficulties).

The results of the study may provide evidence for the potential development of a larger initiative specifically targeted towards the needs of older people and carers in the community.
