Tip of the day

Using recycled toilet paper reduces energy consumption. Producing recycled paper consumes between 28 to 70 % less energy than making virgin paper and avoids up to 95 % of air pollutants. It uses at least 30,000 litres less water for every tonne of recycled paper and 3,000 kWh less electricity which is enough to power an average 3-bedroom house for one year!

green deal events

Changeworks and the Scottish Government recently held five events for community organisations on the UK Government's Green Deal scheme.

Changeworks delivered five Green Deal events with support from the Scottish Government in Edinburgh, Inverness, Orkney, Shetland and Stornoway. Additional delegates across Scotland joined in via a live webinar from the Inverness event.

Speakers from Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Scottish Government and Changeworks presented on the Green Deal, Energy Company Obligation (ECO), the Scottish perspective and community perspective.

All the events were lively, with plenty of questions and constructive discussions. We are currently compiling a report summarising the events, along with answers to the questions raised at the events and through the webinar.

In the meantime you can download the presentations:
